Maintenance Technician Job Description The Utility Maintenance
Technician is responsible for maintaining, operating, and
troubleshooting all utility systems that support production within
a food manufacturing facility. This position ensures that water
heaters, refrigeration systems, compressed air systems, HVAC
equipment, water treatment processes, and related infrastructure
operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory
requirements. The Technician plays a critical role in supporting
the continuous manufacturing operations, food safety standards, and
facility reliability. Responsibilities Perform preventive
maintenance, inspections, and repairs on utility systems, including
water heaters, refrigeration units, compressed air equipment, HVAC
systems, water treatment systems, pumps, valves, and distribution
piping. Monitor utility performance, interpret system data, and
make necessary adjustments to meet production and food safety
requirements. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical,
pneumatic, and control-system issues. Maintain accurate
documentation within the facility’s CMMS and ensure proper
recordkeeping for regulatory compliance. Support compliance with
FDA, HACCP, GMP, SQF/BRC, environmental regulations, and internal
quality standards. Assist with installation, commissioning, and
qualification of new utility equipment. Participate in continuous
improvement initiatives focused on energy efficiency, equipment
reliability, and system optimization. Respond to emergency
breakdowns and provide timely corrective maintenance to minimize
downtime. Follow all facility safety policies, including
Lockout/Tagout, confined space, and chemical handling. Manage
external contractors and technical service providers as necessary
to maintain the facility’s utility equipment. Provide input to
support the facility’s capital program and investment strategy for
the facilities utility equipment. Essential Skills Electrical

knowledge Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma or
equivalent; technical or vocational training preferred. 2–5 years
of experience in utility or maintenance roles within a food,
beverage, or industrial manufacturing environment. Working
knowledge of industrial water heaters, refrigeration systems
(including glycol), HVAC, compressed air systems, and water
treatment. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings,
P&IDs, schematics, and equipment manuals. Proficiency with
tools, diagnostic equipment, and computerized maintenance
management systems (CMMS). EPA 608 Refrigeration Certification.
Wastewater treatment certification (as required by facility).
Training in industrial safety programs including LOTO, confined

based out of Nashville, TN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this
position is $62400.00 - $66560.00/yr. health, dental, vision, 401k,
