Job Summary

This position will be primarily responsible for the student service processes for Industrial Technology Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs and the management of the students and prospective students within those respective areas. This grant-funded position represents the College for the purposes of general advising, outreach, promoting student enrollment, student retention and management of Industrial Technology CTE programs and students.

Examples of Duties

  • Advise Industrial Technology students on admission processes and procedures for enrollment.
  • Provide targeted Industrial Technology CTE outreach at designated high schools, fairs and other locations as assigned. Advise and assist Industrial Technology students in registration, scheduling, planning, and placement related to helping them choose appropriate classes. Help engage cohort students in campus life and attend appropriate events and activities that increase retention.
  • Provide accurate advising information related to Industrial Technology CTE programs and requirements.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of college policies, procedures, programs and articulation with other colleges and surrounding state/private colleges and universities.
  • Actively seek and participate in partnership efforts with area high school and colleges in an expanding academic resource role for students.
  • Assist in preparation of materials for orientation sessions, advising sessions and assist students in the transfer process depending on the program of study.
  • Refer students to appropriate staff regarding career, personal, and transitional issues and other appropriate student services as deemed appropriate (Veterans Affairs, Financial Aid, Adult Basic Education, Disability Services, etc.).
  • Provide basic information to the public regarding College vocational/technical training programs, Workforce Training and Education Programs.
  • Develop and support Industrial Technology student retention activities for low performing students.
  • Maintain accreditation records and assist with accreditation requirements in all accredited Industrial Technology CTE programs.
  • Collect and maintain records of all Industry Based Credentials (IBCs) for all Industrial Technology CTE programs.

Minimum Qualifications

MANDATORY: Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Education, Communications, or related field, or any satisfactory combination of experience and training which demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties. Must be a high energy, outgoing individual with excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Must be able to interact effectively with students of various ages, abilities and ethnic backgrounds.

PREFERRED: Previous community college experience and knowledge of Career and

Technical programs in academia. Previous Student Services experience and work within diverse communities.
